Not strictly a game console, but the Game Boy Camera is particularly interesting to me. I love photography, and old computer stuff, so naturally I enjoy photography with an old computer.

I have a printer, but I mostly only use that when I am showing it off. Even today, I find that many people really love having their grainy photo printed off so they can take it home. It’s a thermal printer, so naturally the original paper (which was sticky-backed) doesn’t work properly anymore. I bought some receipt paper which I cut down to size when I want more paper. It’s a bit thinner than the original paper, which does impact image quality, but overall it works pretty well!

Printing with some modern receipt paper.

Some very awesome person made a Game Boy Printer emulator for the Arduino, which is pretty rad. This made it possible to extract images from a Game Boy Camera as raw bitmaps, which is much better than my old system of printing them out and scanning them.

Of course I took it apart.
